Every year we start December by decorating the house. Tree up, presents wrapped outside decor to finish it off.
Christmas 2023
It really is a joyful month until December 26th. The presents are gone and you feel the lull of Christmas being over. Now we aren’t bah humbugs, the tree stays up for a little bit for the children but come New Year’s Eve down it comes ready for that fresh start to the new year.
This year the corner used for our tree is being transformed into our study corner. We are just waiting for our new computer desk to turn up to make the area not feel so empty. Photo to follow!
So, I’ve already talked about our plans to shape up for our holiday. I rave about Insanity. Other than the fact I love Shaun T and follow him on Instagram, I know it does work as through Covid it helped me get in shape.
Last year, going back to work and juggling a baby and two others made me hit a wall with Insanity. I could do a good three weeks, although my eating habits would be awful or I’d try and fast and the nutrition side of the Insanity guide would tell me that if I was to lose weight I need to eat no more than 1500 calories. So I kept slipping. Yes my motivation etc could have been a key.
I’ve had V-Shred videos pop up constantly on my social media. It’s probably the only one I’ve shown Matt that he actually agrees with in the sense of the guy and what he is saying, Matt was the one that originally got me doing Insanity by the way. He does not like me buying in to schemes though as he says we know what we are doing,
I thought I’d use this blog to see if what Vince at V-Shred is telling people is true. I’ve ordered his programme ‘toned in 90 days’. It’s all on my phone. His calorie calculator is telling me I can lose weight by eating between 1800 and 2000 calories. Yep, you heard me, by eating what is pretty much the recommended daily amount for a women and only working out 3 x a week for 15 minutes, I will, in 90 days, lose weight and be more toned. So here it goes everyone, tomorrow morning 5:30am start (because of work not V-Shred) and we will start the journey together to see if it works.
Day 1
Here’s the scales:
😖
So this morning I did the 15 minute workout and stuck to 1800-2000 calories recommend with a good balance of food, no alcohol and lots of water. Day 2 will be the same. I won’t up date every day as there won’t be much to say that’s different so I’ll give a weekly update on how the ‘toned in 90 days’ is going.
So both Matt and myself like to stay in shape. That said we are both partial to drink together and enjoy a chocolate here and there but who doesn’t? I think last year having a baby and taking the reasoning of “the baby weight will slip off slowly throughout the year” has not helped either of us though and juggling work and the kids has made us slip a little with our ways.
Lucky for us both Matt is an amazing cook!
Chicken wrapped in bacon with stuffed peppers 😋
And we both are not fussy. So this year we have made a promise to ourselves to lose the weight we have gained since our youngest was cooking away in the belly.
Our definite no no on this journey though is not giving up alcohol completely as at the end of the day it’s our treat at the end of a hard week at work. Cutting back and not being tempted by a glass of wine on a school night is our first step.
Water, something I’m pretty good at drinking at work, Matt not so much. I purchased these bottles from Amazon to attempt to keep us both on track with hitting that 2 litres a day marker.
Lots of lovely homemade cooked meals involving a variety of different foods, we particularly like fish.
Exercise. It’s not the key to looking amazing. If you don’t follow it up by eating well then it won’t make a lot of difference. You have to stay consistent too. We have different ways of keeping fit. Matt is into weight training, which I may have a go at myself as we have a set at home now. On the other hand ever since the Covid lockdown my go to has been Insanity and more recently Insanity Max 30. I can’t fault it, especially as a busy Mum of three. I also enjoy a bit of running when I can get out alone.
Let’s see if it works. First weigh in 1st of February. We also think a weekly weigh in can mess with your head a little in the way of progress if you don’t lose a lot so a monthly weigh in is what we are going for.
